Oakland County and southeastern Michigan were once again praised as the state's top counties for its sports and entertainment scene. The county said Oakland was awarded the 29th consecutive award, the second-highest in the county's history.

The nonprofit Youth Advocate Programs works with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. The program, which opened in August 2017, has classroom classes but is open to students in grades 6 through 12.

The Southfield Sports Arena swimming pool offers Open Swim and General Swim, both very affordable. For non-residents of Southfield, one dollar is added to the cost of a swimsuit, bathing cap, life jacket and water bottle. The arena has ice skating and parachuting - in hockey, as well as a variety of other activities for children.

Sports like rackets, tennis and badminton may seem relatively harmless, but they are about objects moving at 60 miles per hour or faster. In games where players are in close contact with each other, many eye injuries are caused by tusks, jaws, fingers and elbows.

Fortunately, coaches, parents and players have come to realize that wearing protective eyewear in sport pays off in several ways. The current eye protection for sports such as tennis, tennis and badminton does not provide sufficient protection against its use.

The Southfield Municipal Complex also has a wheelchair accessible baseball field for children with special needs, which is provided by the organization as a way for them to play organized baseball. Complemented by a padded field, the wheelchair-friendly field is a shining example of the city's commitment to providing a safe environment for all children and adults with disabilities. Southfields Parks and Rec Department is home to a wide variety of sports including football, baseball, softball, tennis, badminton, volleyball, basketball, lacrosse and football. Men's sports include football, baseball, softball, tennis, badminton, volleyball, basketball and lacrosse, while women's sports include football, cross-country skiing, athletics, golf, football and tennis.

Steven A. Ballmer spent a year at the Lawrence Tech Summer Science Institute while attending high school, where he excelled in science, technology, engineering and math. (STEM), as well as in mathematics, science and technology, and participated in the Lawrence Tech Summer Science Institute. He began his football and athletics career at the University of Michigan and then returned to Southfield High School, where he taught social studies. During his senior year, he scored 15 TDs in football and averaged 20.9 points in basketball. He was named Big Ten Conference Offensive Player of the Year for football while scoring 15 TDs and averaging 15.8 points and 9.5 points per game for basketball. Many of his donors were part of the U-M men's and women's basketball teams and the Michigan Wolverines football team.

DeMarco Dickerson, a senior from Detroit, Mich., led the Saints to a 3-1 record and a spot in the NCAA Division II National Championship Game. Beavers to an 11-0 record that led the Blue Devils to the Big Ten Conference championship and national title. He was named to the Dream Team and ranked by USA Today as one of the top ten high school football players in his class and an All-America selection.

He was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 2006 and went on to play football at the University of Michigan. Torin played for the Cardinals for two seasons, 2007-08 and 2009-10, in addition to his time with the Saints.

Floyd played 164 games for the Saints in four seasons, registering 588 tackles and 39 sacks. He has been in the NFL for the last three seasons and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Super Bowl XLIX.

McEvans played for the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League and won the Grey Cup with them in 2001. The team won the Gray Cup, the Canadian version of a Super Bowl, in its first year with the team in 1998. After Otis Floyd, he played in the NFL for New Orleans, the New York Giants and the San Francisco 49ers.

The Saints return home to face Rochester in the first game of the regular season on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at 7: 30 p.m. The Southfield Sports Arena ice rink offers indoor ice skating and is home to the AAA hockey, Little Caesar. Located in the heart of Southfield, Michigan, on Evergreen Rd. it hosts concerts, concerts and other events.

In January 2017, Lawrence Tech announced that it would hold an intercollegiate football competition for the first time in more than 70 years, dating back to shortly after World War II. In its 65 years of existence, the school has produced a number of sporting heroes and set national records both as a team and as an individual.

Siena cut the deficit to four points at 38-34 after Brandon Beavers made a dunk before the break. The Blue Devils extended their lead to eight points, 48-40, after Kevin Rice, a junior from Detroit, made two free throws and two assists with 2: 52 left. Smith increased the lead to 67-63 after he had an assist for Siena with 8: 11 left in the game and then a three-point play for Lawrence Tech.
